He’s cool, he’s slick and chasing that kick, ThugGuru slides onto the scene as the life of the party. This 21 year old local rapper hails from Johannesburg, born and bred in the bustling streets.
His musical journey started as a 4-year old toddler, banging away on the drums. From that moment on he knew that he was destined for something greater. But this artist isn’t sold on the saintly life. With a mischievous streak, it was only logical that his stage name would be “ThugGuru”, named after his uncle’s nickname for him (Thug) and as for the Guru part, he added that spice himself.
This rapper is not only nimble with his words, but also affluent on the piano, guitar and has a love for singing too. Besides “killing it on the drums”, ThugGuru was quite the involved child, being the captain of his baseball team, making colours for dancing, coming first in public speaking and throughout it all, always being a leader. He’s clearly more than just a pretty face.
When it comes to his musical influences, ThugGuru is well-versed in the greats of rap and hip-hop, with some of his favourites including J.I the Prince of N.Y, Lil Durk, Polo G and the notorious Travis Scott.
Besides his cheeky stage name, ThugGuru has a soft heart when it comes to his fans. He encourages others to “not be a Thug, but live a Thug life”. He strives to be an inspiration to all and show that it is possible to follow – and accomplish – your dreams.
With his undeniable grit and unwavering wit, ThugGuru is sure to be the life and legend wherever he goes.
